Know Him

"Not everyone who says to Me(Jesus), 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven.

"Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, 'Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"

And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practise lawlessness!'

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock...his house did not fall." Matthew 7:21-25

This scripture scares alot of people into questioning whether they will be saved in the end. If it troubles our hearts, than we need to question whether we are living in a relationship with God or not. We can go thru all the religious motions and totally miss the mark.

There are many 'mental assenters' who say, 'yes, there is God, there is Jesus who died for sins and rose again' and they mentally assent to many things but they go no further.

God wants us to have a relationship with Him, to know Him and to be obedient to His ways.

In a relationship we speak to the other person. Not only that, we must listen to that person.

There has to be respect and honor for that relationship to flourish.

The life of faith is 'big'. There are so many facets to it; study, worship, obedience, service, giving and the list goes on. But the most important thing to God is 'relationship'. When we have a right relationship with Him, all the other parts of our faith flow out of the abundance of a heart that's been filled with Him.

When we know Him, we come to love, respect and trust Him. Obedience and service flow out of that.

Father, as I read the words of Jesus in Your Word, make them come alive to me, speak to me. Help me to know you. In Jesus' name.
