The Gospel

The word gospel stands for 'good news'. Jesus proclaimed the good news everywhere He went and today we are the ones who carry on His message.

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has annointed Me...empowered me
To preach good tidings...good news...to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn...all who greive,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give those who mourn-beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord,
that He may be glorified." Isaiah 61:1-3

No matter what the circumstance we find ourselves in, God wants to help us through to the other side. He can help. He wants to help you. Will you allow Him?

Say this to Him: God, give me beauty for ashes, the oil of joy and take away my mourning. Give me the garment of praise and take away this spirit of heaviness. Help me know You and help me to know the joy of Your salvation, the joy of You saving me and its benefits. I know its free, from You to me. Thank You God, in Jesus' name. Amen.
